If you’ve been looking for the perfect backdrop for your engagement session, maternity photos, or just updated family portraits, you’re in the right place. I’ve photographed all over the greater Seattle area, and while the Pacific Northwest never really runs out of beautiful places, there are a handful of spots I keep coming back to again and again, for good reason.
These are my go-to Seattle photo locations that offer a mix of natural beauty, variety, and that dreamy light we all love. Whether you’re planning a cozy couples session or a full wedding gallery, these locations consistently deliver magic.
1. Discovery Park – Seattle, WA
This is hands-down one of my most requested spots—and one I recommend often. Discovery Park has it all: forest trails, open meadows, and that iconic beach view with the lighthouse. It’s perfect for couples who want a little adventure without leaving the city, and it’s stunning year-round.
Best for: Engagement sessions, elopements, maternity
Pro tip: Sunset on the bluff trail? Unreal. Bring comfy shoes—you’ll be glad you did.
2. Rattlesnake Lake – North Bend, WA
About 45 minutes from Seattle, Rattlesnake Lake feels like stepping into a PNW postcard. With its dramatic mountain backdrop, lakeside views, and tree stumps dotting the shoreline, it’s a total dream, especially for adventurous couples or families who love the outdoors.
Best for: Adventure elopements, maternity, lifestyle couples
Pro tip: Weekday mornings here are usually quiet, and the soft light is everything.
3. Gold Creek Pond – Snoqualmie Pass, WA
If you’re dreaming of alpine lake vibes without a long hike, Gold Creek Pond is chef’s kiss. Flat, easy access and some of the most reflective water and dreamy mountain views I’ve seen. Just an hour and a half from Seattle, this one’s perfect for elopements and golden hour magic.
Best for: Elopements, couples, maternity
Pro tip: This spot shines in summer and early fall. Winter can be magical too, just bring layers!
4. Mukilteo Lighthouse Park – Mukilteo, WA
This gem is tucked just north of Seattle and has such a charming mix of waterfront views, driftwood, boats, and of course, the lighthouse! It’s relaxed, coastal, and perfect for a laid-back session with personality. Plus, ferry views make for a gorgeous backdrop.
Best for: Families, maternity, engagement sessions
Pro tip: Catch golden hour here for light that wraps everything in a soft, glowy haze.

5. Rosario Beach – Deception Pass State Park, WA
If you’re up for a bit of a drive (and trust me, it’s worth it), Rosario Beach is a stunning location with rugged coastline, dramatic cliffs, and peaceful tidepools. It’s one of my all-time favorite beach locations for couples who want something unique and intimate.
Best for: Elopements, couples, maternity
Pro tip: This is one of those “wow” locations. It’s best on a calm day, and sunrise or sunset sessions here feel downright magical.
Planning Your Session?
Choosing the right location is one of the first steps in setting the tone for your shoot. I always help my clients pick a spot that fits their vibe, whether that’s forest fairytale, mountaintop adventure, or a salty breeze on the beach.
If you’re dreaming up your own photo session in the Seattle area, whether it’s a wedding, engagement, or maternity session,I’d love to help bring it to life. I’m based in Seattle and photograph love stories all across the Pacific Northwest.
